A cooperative doctoral program is offered by Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith colleges and the University of Massachusetts in the fields of astronomy, biological sciences, chemistry, geosciences, history and physics. The degree is awarded by the university in cooperation with the institution in which the student has done the research for the dissertation.
