Regine A. Spector holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. and M.A. in International Relations and International Policy Studies from Stanford University. Regine studies political economy, development, and politics in Eurasia, and is currently completing a book manuscript on the social and political underpinnings of markets and property in the region through an empirical studyof bazaars in Kyrgyzstan. Her research has appeared in Problems of Post-Communism, Post-Soviet Affairs, and The Washington Quarterly.

Regine teaches courses in comparative politics, development, and Eurasian studies at Smith College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is also the coordinator of a Central Eurasian Studies Speaker Series at the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute in Washington, D.C., where she was previously a visiting research scholar.
