Gregory White, Professor of Government, teaches courses on international political economy, global environmental politics, labor migration, and North African politics.

He is the author of On the Outside of Europe Looking In: A Comparative Political Economy of Tunisia and Morocco (State University of New York Press, 2001).  He is also the author of articles in journals such as the Review of International Political Economy, Perspectives on Politics, Middle East Journal, Middle East Policy, the Journal of Developing Areas, Third World Quarterly, and the Review of African Political Economy.  He is currently working on a book manuscript on the contested concept of “climate refugees” and the ethics of border security.

The recipient of a grant from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, for 2009-10 Professor White will be in residence at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University’s Earth Institute.

Professor White is currently an associate editor of the Journal of North African Studies and serves on the boards of the American Institute for Maghrib Studies, the Tangiers American Legation Museum and Research Center in Morocco, and the World Affairs Council of Western Massachusetts.
