Gregory
White is a Professor of Government at Smith College. His research focuses on the
political economy of developing countries and their relationships with advanced industrialized
countries. This includes the political economy and security implications of international
labor migration, the north-south dimension of natural resource exploitation, and
the prospects of electoral reform. He is the author of On the Outside of Europe
Looking In: A Comparative Political Economy of Tunisia and Morocco ( Albany:
State University of New York Press, 2001). He is also the author of articles in the Middle
East Journal, the Journal of Developing Areas, Third World Quarterly, the Review
of African Political Economy, Middle East Report, Policy Studies Journal and Review
of International Political Economy, as well as several book chapters. He is
currently working on a book manuscript on the political economy and security implications
of Moroccan labor migration to Spain.
