Charitable Gifts from IRAs No Longer in Effect
The legislation allowing donors to give directly to charity from their IRAs on a tax-free basis expired January 1.
We thank the many donors who have given generously to Smith from their IRAs. Like all charities Smith hopes that Congress will reinstate this popular gift option at some point during calendar 2012, as it has in past years. For the present, though, please be aware that you may no longer transfer gifts from your IRA directly to Smith on a tax-free basis.
