Did you know about the SENIOR CAMPAIGN?
Every year, Smith seniors raise money toward a class gift that is presented to the college on Ivy Day. It's a tradition that has been going on for decades, and provides seniors the opportunity to make their first official gift to the college as a class. The senior campaign is sponsored by the Smith Fund, the college's Annual Fund.
Last year, more than 60% of the senior class at Wellesley participated in their senior campaign, raising over $20,000. Mount Holyoke seniors raised over $5,000 from over 40% of the senior class.
Thank you to the 254 members of our class (aka 36%) have made a gift, for a total of $2,064. Anyone who wishes to participate may still do so by sending your donation to the Alumnae House or by donating online.
While we didn't meet our goal of 80% participation in the Senior Campaign, President Christ was impressed by our efforts, and has donated $2,013 as part of our class gift. We raised the largest senior campaign gift in her time at Smith!
Where does the money go?
Donations to the senior campaign will help raise money for financial aid, study abroad, PRAXIS internships, athletics, and curricular support. We, the seniors, get to choose!
Will small donations help, too?
Absolutely! Every donation makes a difference. If every senior made a donation of $5, the class would raise over $3,000 for Smith!
What is the Smith Fund?
The Smith Fund is the way that most alumnae, parents, and friends support the college. It is an annual fund, which means we ask for donations every year. Last year the Smith Fund received over 15,000 donations, totaling $10.7 million. Gifts to the Smith Fund go immediately where they are needed most and help support campus priorities, including financial aid and scholarships for you and your friends.
Why are alumnae donations important?
Gifts from alumnae help make scholarships and financial aid possible for students who otherwise might be unable to attend. In addition to aid, these gifts also support study away opportunities, campus upkeep, teaching and research opportunities, academic programs, library acquisitions, and more!
