Landscape Update: August 4, 2010

Mendenhall Courtyard

A new landscape is being established at the courtyard of the Mendenhall Center for the Performing Arts. Landscape architects Towers|Golde created a design that would be appropriate for the building's age and architecture. Summer interns at the Botanic Garden are doing the installation, which should be completed within ten days.

McConnell Courtyard

A few large yews and a rogue apple tree will be removed along College Lane at the entrance to the McConnell Hall courtyard. As part of the Campus Landscape Maser Plan, this area is to remain clear so that (in time) it will provide a view towards Paradise Pond as one approaches College Lane from the Neilson Library Neon Archway (under the connector to the Alumnae Gymnasium). The McConnell/Sabin-Reed area suffered a major water main break and lawn areas will be restored by fall.
