Landscape Update: June 2011

Invasive Plant Removal

Under the direction of Landscape Manager Jay Girard, Botanic Garden summer interns have begun work renovating the landscape on the slope heading down from the President's Residence to Paradise Pond. This slope has an extensive amount of non-native invasive species growing among other plants. Numerous trees and shrubs, some accessioned members of our permanent collection, have been freed from the canopy of invasive vines.

This work will eventually extend down to the banks of the Paradise Pond, and along the shoreline to meet up with areas already being targeted for invasive species eradication under the auspices of Facilities Management's Mill River Invasive Species Remediation project, now in its second year.
