The first semester of the Botanic Garden’s new Curricular Enhancement Program has resulted in this exhibition of prints by students in Professor Dwight Pogue’s offset printmaking class. Students followed the development of chrysanthemums in the Lyman Conservatory from the beginning of the semester in September through the Chrysanthemum Show in November.
They studied mum flower anatomy, dissecting flowers under the microscope. They also learned how to make hybrid crosses. All the while they were using the chrysanthemums for artistic inspiration in creating lithographs and monotypes. While they will have to wait until next fall’s Chrysanthemum Show to see the results of their hybridizing, the results of their artistic endeavors are presented here.
