Hours:
Campus arboretum and gardens: Open daily year-round.
While we are not a public park in the sense of a Central Park, the public is invited to explore the campus arboretum and specialty gardens.
Lyman Conservatory: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm daily.
CLOSED THANKSGIVING DAY AND DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 2.
Occasionally closed for regular maintenance, always check ahead if you are planning a trip.
Group Visits and Guided Tours:
We welcome group visits with advance reservations. For more information about group visits you can print out our Group Visit Information Sheet.
To help in scheduling and to avoid having to disappoint visitors we require that ALL GROUPS ARRANGE VISITS IN ADVANCE by filling out an Online Group Tour/Visit Request Form or contacting the Botanic Garden office (413-585-2742) or by email: garden@smith.edu.
Guided tours for school groups and other groups are available by appointment. Tours must be scheduled 4 weeks in advance. Well-behaved and chaperoned school groups are welcome only IF YOU HAVE SCHEDULED AHEAD.
For more information about school visits see the Teachers Resource Guide.
School Bus Subsidies:
The Botanic Garden is happy to be able to offer bus subsidies to defray your school group’s bus transportation costs. Subsidies must be requested when making tour reservations for your group and you must submit a bus subsidy form and tax ID information. See Bus Form and the Teachers Resource Guide.
Please note: Subsidies are granted on a first come, first served basis, so we encourage teachers to schedule their visits as early as possible, but at least four weeks in advance.
