Created in the mid-1980's by Richard Munson in a group of old foundations behind Garrison Hall, The Edith BranwellReilly Hand WildflowerGarden was recently moved. The garden's new incarnation, created after its former site was chosen for construction of the new parking garage, is located in a moist woodland glen near the Japanese Garden and Tea Hut and alongside the pathway along Paradise Pond. This site provides an exceptionally naturalistic habitat for new plantings and easier access for viewing and use.

The Woodland Garden, located in a ravine near Paradise Pond, also includes the Rhododendron garden. Endowed in honor of Alice Orne Smith (class of 1911 and a distinguished landscape designer), it was laid out in the 1980's in a neglected ravine near the President's House. Under a canopy of white pines and sugar maples, a trail leads through a woodland setting where species of the genus Rhododendron are planted among ferns and native wildlflowers.
