The grassy terrace behind the house looks out over Paradise Pond. On the slopes below, a series of terraces and dry walls supports a collection of roses overlooking the course of the Mill River beyond the boathouse toward Mount Tom. |

The President's Herb Garden was established in 1978. Its center bed contains Thymus vulgaris and a sundial. The four quadrants and borders contain plants of medicinal and culinary value, as well as plants used for fragrance and dye. Adjacent to the Herb Garden is a vegetable and cutting garden. |
