Smith has a proud tradition of alumnae support for students that dates back to 1887
when Smith clubs were established in Boston and Chicago to raise scholarship funds. Alumnae
Admission volunteers today operate within the structure of their local Smith clubs, or,
in unclubbed areas, alone, speaking with prospective students and their families, contacting
local high schools to establish relations with guidance counselors, attending college fairs
and offering prospective students the recommended interview.
