Stephen P. Campbell and Heather McHold '91 Scholarship Fund

Letter to Ms. Heather McHold '91 and Mr. Stephen P. Campbell

March 2006

It is difficult to convey in a single letter how grateful I am for the scholarship I received for this academic year. The summer after my junior year I visited Smith College, and I immediately knew that Smith was the one for me! The only application I sent out as a senior was to Smith College! There have been so many opportunities here to learn and grow, both personally and academically. Both my first year and sophomore year I have been elected as the class historian for the SGA 2008 class cabinet. This year I work as the house community advisor (HCA) for Lawrence. Being a member of Residence Life this year has been amazing. The relationships and experiences have been both challenging and rewarding.

This summer I am working at the Maine Maritime Museum using my Praxis internship. Having the assistance of the CDO has made the whole process a great learning experience. They have assisted me by looking over my résumé and collaborating on positive interviewing skills, and I now feel very prepared.

As for next year, I am going to study in Hamburg, Germany, through the Smith JYA program. I started taking German courses my first year, fell in love with the language, and decided to declare it my major in addition to my history major. Both departments here at Smith are phenomenal. I couldn't ask for better professors and advisors.

I know that I couldn't have made it this far if I didn't have your financial support. Your help has had a significant, positive impact on my college career, and I am sincerely grateful.

Sincerely,
Sally Elizabeth Bartlett
