Alfred Babo is a professor in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Bouaké, Côte d'Ivoire. He is currently teaching at Smith and Amherst Colleges. His research interests include peri-urban agriculture, rural development, socio-economics, socio-political crisis and land management conflict. His most recent publications are linked to the analysis of the socio-political crisis of Côte d'Ivoire. Babo is currently working on the involvement of youth in political and ethnic violence. He is a member of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, the American Political Sciences Association and the Société Suisse d'Etude Africaines.
