Nicolas Russell

Nicolas Russell, who joined the Smith faculty in 2001, earned a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. He specializes in sixteenth-century French literature, cultural history, and intellectual history. His research has focused on the language used to describe mental faculties and on the concept of collective memory in the early modern period. His interests include the rhetoric of both literary and nonliterary texts, early modern genres and modes of discourse, and the impact of the printing press on early modern culture. He teaches French language as well as medieval and Renaissance literature and culture. |
