The Fort Hill PTO is an active group and sponsors many social, educational and fund-raising events. All families enrolled in the Center for Early Childhood Education (CECE) at Fort Hill are members of the PTO and we welcome active participation from any interested parents. Volunteers can help in many small ways to make a big difference for the school and community – to learn how you can help, please contact the PTO co-chairs:

To support these initiatives, the PTO has a several one-time and ongoing fundraisers that support enrichment and social activities at the school and the community. Here are a few of our key programs:
Orders are taken for organic pizza from Hillside pizza and the food is delivered the next week to the school, ready to go home for dinner!
Every other November, the school book sale raises key dollars for our program through the sale of high-quality children’s books and other PTO items. Featured books are selected by professional book buyers with input from the Fort Hill teaching staff. These usually include recently published books as well as classics by well-known authors and artists. A portion of the proceeds is donated to "Reach Out and Read," a national non-profit organization that supports early literacy by providing books for local pediatrician offices.
The Original Works fundraiser alternates with the Book Sale. Selected art work from each child is displayed for parents to choose to have transferred to a wide variety of products. The orders are collected in March and the finished products are available in early May.
Clothing and Tote Bags
Quality sweatshirts, T-shirts and tote bags with the Fort Hill sun logo are a great way to show your pride in our school. The sun is featured prominently because it is typically one of the first representative drawings of a child. We have an inventory of items on hand, and special orders are always welcome.
Food Drive
During the months of October and April, a collection box is placed in the front foyer and families contribute non-perishable foods that are donated to the Northampton Survival Center.
Reach Out and Read
During the November Book Sale, families and teachers are offered the opporunity to donate either books or make a financial contribution to the national non-profit Reach Out and Read organization.
Dakin Animal Shelter
The classrooms collect items from the Dakin Animal Shelter Wish List to donate. The drive begins on February 14th, corresponding with a Stuffed Animal Party in the classrooms.
Dress For Success
The PTO will collect gently used clothing and donate them to Dress for Success. More information later.
Used Book Sale
The PTO will collect gently used books throughout the school year and hold a book sale that will be open to the community. The procees will benefit the PTO and all unsold books will be donated to The Children's Hospital. More information later.
