Jill de Villiers is a psychology professor at Smith College who conducts research on children's language development. Barbara Pearson is a research associate at UMass and recently published a book, Raising a Bilingual Child.
The evening will be about an hour and a half. Jill will talk about the connections between language development and theory of mind development, or how children come to understand other people's mental states, like intentions, goals, desires, beliefs. Barbara will talk about raising children bilingually, and the evidence in support of it.

Teachers will share documentation that showcases the curriculum connections and relationships that developed between the children in the West Room and Group A over the past few months. The discussion will follow a protocol developed by the Making Learning Visible Project at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
