U.S. Citizens living abroad (outside the U.S. or Canada) must follow the same procedures as applicants residing in the U.S., which are listed below. However, if your parents are living and earning income outside the U.S. and do not file U.S. tax returns, you should also fill out the College Board International Student Financial Aid Application so that we can consider the actual expenses incurred by your family.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal
Student Aid)
You should complete and submit the FAFSA online as soon as possible after January 1. The Title IV code for Smith College is 002209. We strongly encourage applicants to opt into the IRS Data Retrieval process when completing the FAFSA. If filing the FAFSA before federal income tax returns are complete, you will need to update the FAFSA using the corrections process after your tax returns are filed.
Early Decision: Smith's tentative offer of aid to admitted early decision students will be made based on the PROFILE and tax returns, but the FAFSA should be filed as soon after January 1 as possible.
Regular Decision: Tentative offers of aid for regular decision applicants will be based on the FAFSA, PROFILE, and tax returns.
