Please remember that while working out in the community you are representing Smith College. Remember also that the agency is counting on you, you’re serving the community, and your work is important. Do not consider Off-Campus Work-Study unless you are willing to commit yourself to the agency and its work. Treat the work you do off-campus as seriously as you do your academic work. Not only will you be getting valuable experience, but future employers will consider the importance of the work you do off-campus. You are still subject to the same policies you would be if you were working on-campus.
Off-Campus work-study allows an excellent opportunity to get experience in the public sector, perhaps in your area of study. Because it is also a form of community service, Off-Campus Work-Study is an excellent addition to a student's resume.
