OFF-CAMPUS WORK-STUDY

Eligibility for Off-Campus Work-Study

Students seeking a Work-Study position under this program must have Federal Work-Study in their financial aid package. Students with CWORK (College Work-Study) are not eligible for Off-Campus Work-Study, which is federally funded and requires FWS. Check your Work-Study status using Banner Web.) You can only earn up to the amount of your Federal Work-Study listed. Note: Since the OCWS jobs pay 50 cents more per hour, students can only work a maximum of 10 hours a week. End of the year extensions are available only for on-campus work. IMPORTANT: If you meet the requirements to work an Off-Campus Work-Study job, you can download an OCWS Contract and complete it with your hiring supervisor on site, then return it immediately to Valerie Schumacher in SFS. You cannot be paid without a completed contract.

If you do not have Federal Work-Study, you are not eligible to apply for or hold an Off-Campus Work-Study position. If the agency is not one that Smith College has already had an existing contract with in 2010-2011 we will not be able to accept it.

A Work-Study Agreement and Contract must be made between the college and the agency for the number hours and dollar amount to be earned. The student must also be hired into the position on JobX so that Payroll can set the job up on BannerWeb. The student is responsible for entering her hours on BannerWeb to be paid, and the supervisor is responsible for approving the hours in time for each payroll.
