OFF-CAMPUS WORK-STUDY

Considering Off-Campus Work-Study

A variety of Off-Campus Work-Study jobs are available to Smith students each year at local approved non-profit, non-sectarian agencies. Off-Campus Work-Study focuses on non-profit agencies serving the community, particularly its low-income citizens. Participants include agencies such as the Center for Public Representation, Forbes Library, and the National Priorities Project, etc. These opportunities are listed on the JobX student employment webpage along with all other Work-Study jobs.

Students seeking a Work-Study position under this program must have Federal Work-Study in their financial aid package (check your Work-Study status using Banner Web.) If you do not have Federal Work-Study, you are not eligible to apply for or hold an Off-Campus Work-Study position. IMPORTANT: OCWS applicants must contact the Student Employment Coordinator at vschumac@smith.edu for a contract when hired at an agency. You cannot be paid without a completed contract.

Eligible students may apply for positions at agencies Smith already funds or seek out such an agency on your own as long as that agency meets the federal requirements for off-campus work-study funding and provides the necessary documentation. The agency must first be approved by the Student Employment Coordinator and a contract drawn up before a student begins work.
