Most sites will work with your schedule and offer you from a couple hours a week up to twenty hours a week tutoring.  Note: the number of hours you are allowed to work may be different for each campus.

After you find a position, call the contact number and set up an interview. It is a good idea to stop by your Student Employment/Financial Aid Office to pick up  necessary paperwork to take with you on the interview.  Both you and the tutoring site need to complete the paperwork before you can begin working and you can get paid!  Here is a list of the America Reads campus coordinators.  Find your college/university and give your campus coordinator a call, or better, stop in the office before your interview.  If you are having trouble finding a position, please give your Campus Coordinator a call!

When looking for a tutoring position, take into consideration:
    • The grade level you would like to work with
    • The times you want to work
    • The location of the tutoring site. Is it on the bus line?
