Amercia Counts Information .

Overview
America Counts is a new initiative from the Federal Government using Federal Work Study funds to pay for math tutors for children kindergarten up to the ninth grade.  America Reads is for children preschool to the sixth grade.

Site Training Requirements
If you would like to be an America Counts site, it is up to you to train the tutors you hire. We will do our best to support you with some materials and helps to create an environment where both the tutor and the child can be successful. Tutors for America Counts will still be requried to attend the first of our trainings, the Overview Session, and more information about that training can be found here. The Department of Education has a national America Reads list-serve where schools and individuals share information and insights into training and working with tutors; we would encourage you to sign up and use the list-serve as a resource to help your math tutors, where many are sharing their experiences, advice and know-how. For Schools with Students 7th to 9th Grade
Just a reminder to these sites that are interested in America Counts, under the guidelines for America Reads as stipulated by the Federal Government, reading tutors are only for children preschool to the sixth grade. This means that we are excited to help you hire math tutors for your students, but they cannot be used to tutor reading or for any clerical or administrative jobs.

How To Become an America Counts Site
Please fill out the form below and we will contact you with more information about America Counts and becoming a host site. If you are a school with students from the 7th to 9th grade, or if you are not already a Five College America Reads site, please complete the Information Sheet , Job Posting and submit the other requried information as well.
