THE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION PROCESS
FOR CURRENT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Eligibility for the Program

A non-U.S. citizen (Canadian citizens excepted) will have her Expected Family Contribution remain the same each year she attends Smith.  The self-help portion of the award (loan and on-campus work) will increase each year to partially offset increases in our billed costs.  The Smith Grant will also be adjusted so that the total family contribution remains stable.  Cost increases not covered by aid increases are the responsibility of the student and her family.  No yearly reapplication for aid is necessary.

Please see our Policy for Review and Appeal of Need-based Financial Aid Awards

U.S. citizens and permanent residents and Canadian residents must reapply for aid each year.

International students are required to accept the College's Health Insurance Plan unless their insurance company is in the US. The Health Insurance Decision Form is available online in the summer.

International Students and Work-Study

There is a new policy in place for upperclass (sophomore through senior) international students wishing to request an increase in their earnings limit.
