New Season Launches Every Early Spring

Smith students and local alumnae who are U.S. citizens with a GPA of 3.4 or above are invited to attend the yearly Fellowships Information Meeting.

This meeting is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor and position yourself to maximize your chances of winning a highly prestigious and lucrative fellowship.

Fellowships informational meetings give you all the information to get started, and are followed by breakout sessions with faculty mentors and/or former fellowship applicants.

MEETING PREPARATION

Be sure to visit this vital link in order to see for which fellowships you are qualified for entry into the Smith Fellowships Program: Eligibility Requirements.

Register usually between February 15 and March 1 of your sophomore or junior year depending on which fellowship you are applying for, except for the FULBRIGHT that requires concrete action early November of your junior year.
If you are even just thinking about the Fulbright, go right now immediately to
http://www.smith.edu/fellowships/fast_track.html
to grasp the basics and position yourself to get in on the groundfloor.

A key link is When to Apply, which shows which fellowships are relevant to first-years, sophomores, juniors and seniors. See also Which Fellowship Profile Fits Yours.

You absolutely have to think ahead and start planning NOW. Students currently abroad should especially pay attention to this rule. Being abroad is a great advantage in terms of being able to make the host-country contacts so vital for Fulbright and other fellowship applications. See Alert! Junior Year Abroad?

Prepare for the meeting by perusing the pages of this website, if necessary starting at the beginning (www.smith.edu/fellowships).

If you don't know what a fellowship is, start at the Overview and then read about what the different fellowships offer, at Specific Fellowships. Once you know which fellowships suit you, register at Smith Registration for Fellowships.

Off-campus alumnae will no longer be able to apply for Fulbrights through Smith unless they live near campus.

Smith is one of the leading institutions in the country per capita and a top college overall for producing Fulbright Fellows, so we have the expertise to guide you. Smith also has one of the highest applicant success rate among the top Fulbright producers, so you have the opportunity of a lifetime. NOW is the time to inform yourself so you know where you stand.

Think big. Think ahead. Think fellowships.
