I came across a scholarship search site at www.brokescholar.com. Most students who visit my office and want scholarship information are not necessarily interested in major scholarships - they tell me their major, interests, and GPA and want a highly customized list of all opportunities for which they are eligible. (Ha!) I'm sure many of you have heard of the above site and have referred students to it in the past but I tested it out this morning and am quite satisfied with the results. Of course, it asks all sorts of unnecessary questions (to target your perceived interest in getting loads and loads of junk mail,
I'm sure) and tries to unload magazine subscriptions as well... but once you get to the "search results" section it is worth the trouble of plodding through the junk. Also, students may update their profiles to generate new scholarship search results at any time. Please tell me what you think and whether your students have found this site helpful. Also include any other engines that you've used which are student friendly or not. (For example, students that I've spoken with thoroughly dislike www.fastweb.com.)
