With the Studio Art Centers International (SACI) scholarship students wishing to study studio art, architecture, design, art history, or art conservation at SACI in Florence, Italy.

SACI is delighted to announce The Elizabeth A. Sackler Museum Educational Trust SACI Scholarship. This generous grant is the result of a gift designated by Elizabeth A. Sackler, Ph.D. This full scholarship is awarded annually to a woman who exhibits exceptional artistic excellence in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, or art conservation and intends to pursue a career in one of these fields. This scholarship is a product of Dr. Sackler's commitment to supporting women who would benefit from studying at SACI but lack sufficient funds to do so. This all-inclusive scholarship covers airfare, tuition, housing as well as activity and materials fees totaling nearly $30,000. In creating this annual scholarship, Dr. Sackler's intention is to make available SACI's rich educational and cultural resources to "a talented woman who might otherwise never have this kind of opportunity."

The IIE/Cora Faye Williamson Scholarship of $5,000 is offered annually to assist an undergraduate or graduate student in meeting his or her academic objectives. Preference is given to students from east Texas, especially the Beaumont area.

The Jules Maidoff Scholarship is named after founder and Director Emeritus of SACI. This is a $2,500 tuition scholarship and is offered only on the basis of exceptional talent and need.

The Gillian Award is open to a female artist with demonstrated artistic achievement and a bachelor's degree. This award offers the unique opportunity to an aspiring fine artist who already has a history of exhibiting in galleries and other venues to live and work in Florence, utilizing all the resources of SACI. The recipient receives a $2,500 tuition scholarship.

The Gilman International Scholarship offers awards for study abroad, to US citizen students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university. This program is offered through the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and is administered by the Institute of International Education. Selected by competition, recipients are awarded up to $5000 to defray the costs associated with studying abroad. Interested prospective students must apply directly to this scholarship. If awarded SACI offers an additional $500 bonus to the award.

Interested students must submit their applications to SACI's New York City office at the Institute of International Education (IIE) by March 15 for the 2006-2007 academic year. Recipients are expected to perform at a high academic level and will interact responsibly and creatively within the Florentine community. All those interested in learning more about Studio Art Centers International and our scholarships should visit our website at www.saci-florence.org or email saci@iie.org.
