Q. A student of mine wants to attend an intensive summer program in Arabic at Georgetown. It's $9,000, excluding living expenses!!! Any ideas for funding? I seem to remember some reports of increased initiatives to train Arabic specialists, but where to start looking?

A. I remember receiving a flyer from NSEP about a pilot program beginning in the Fall for funding in Arabic, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese. There wasn't any mention of summer, though, and the deadline date for application was mid-January I think. Why don't you try e-mailing them to see if there are any other opportunities through them.
