Q. I have a student who is an English major (creative writing emphasis) and wants to know what is available for someone who wants to write a novel after senior year and then go to grad school from there. Can anyone help??

A. A valuable resource for student writers seeking funding is the volume Grants and Awards Available to American Writers (published by the PEN American Center). It is fully indexed and includes everything from student essay contests through grants for established authors. And it's only $19.50!

A. The Fulbright Program awarded about 40 scholarships in creative writing last year, 02-03, many to graduating seniors.
