Please click on the individual fellowship buttons to obtain additional or in-depth information about a particular fellowship. This is important as you research the suitability of a fellowship for yourself.
You will be led either directly to the foundation (or administrator's) website,
or you will open a page of further links to different areas of a foundation’s
website that will answer specific questions about that fellowship. Some pages
also contain other contact information.
Study the biographies and profiles of the scholars on the fellowship websites to get a feel for the level required to succeed with a particular fellowship. Say to yourself: Is this me? This is the first step on the fellowships road to self-knowledge. How do I evaluate myself objectively? Neither too highly nor too critically! Or ask: Can I be this? Do I want to be? What will it take? What are the rewards? What will I learn on the way that will be useful for the rest of my life?
See what you have to do beyond the classroom and grades to succeed. Learn how to measure success in fellowships terms and understand that the means involved in the process are valuable too. Although you do need a large dose of self-confidence, this must be grounded in high achievement. On the other hand, don't be over-impressed by the accomplishments of the scholar bios posted on foundation websites to the point of underrating your own.
The application process begins by looking at how foundations rate applications because that way you’ll know the aim, what you need to satisfy, and what is irrelevant. Study carefully what the foundations themselves say they are looking for in candidates to see if you might be one of their future fellows.
