Patricia L. Skarda

Patricia L. Skarda came to Smith twenty-five years ago from The University of Texas at Austin. She teaches Romantic Poetry and Prose, The Bible as Literature, several writing courses (Advanced Essay Writing; The Reading and Writing of Short Stories), and a course called "Telling and Retelling: Modern Novels Premised on Literary Antecedents." Besides publishing in the Romantic period and co-editing The Evil Image: Two Centuries of Gothic Short Fiction and Poetry (1981) with Nora Crow, she has also published two collections of literature written by Smith alumnae (Smith Voices : Selected Works by Smith College Alumnae). She has spent two years away from Smith as an American Council on Education Fellow in Academic Administration (1978-79) and as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy (1992-93).
