Mary Koncel

Mary Koncel is a Writing Counselor at the Jacobson Center for Writing, Teaching and Learning and a Lecturer in the English Department. She also co-designed and teaches in the Writing Program of the Smith College School for Social Work. She received her BFA in Poetry from Columbia College in Chicago and her MFA in English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. A devotee of the prose poem, she has published in several journals and anthologies. In 1996, she received a poetry grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. In 1999,Quale Press published her chapbook Closer to Day, and in 2004 Tupelo Press published her full length collection of prose poems You Can Tell the Horse Anything, which was a finalist for the Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Award.
