Daisy Fried's second book of poems, My Brother is Getting Arrested Again, (University of Pittsburgh, 2006) was a finalist for the 2005 James Laughlin Award. Her first book, She Didn't Mean to Do It, (Pittsburgh, 2000), won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize. She has been a Hodder Fellow at Princeton University, a Pew Fellow in Poetry, a Meralmikjen Fellow at the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, and the recipient of a Pushcart Prize, the Leeway Award for Excellence in Poetry and the Cohen Award from Ploughshares. She has taught creative writing through Warren Wilson College's low residency MFA program and the Haverford College, University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers-New Brunswick. She is currently the Conkling Writer-in-Residence at Smith College.
