Danielle Elliott

Danielle Elliott teaches the literature and culture of the African Diaspora, with an emphasis on Caribbean and African American literatures.  As Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in English at Smith College, her courses include "Trauma, Mourning, and Memory in Black Literature," "African American Poetry," and a writing intensive course on the coming of age narrative in Caribbean fiction.  She received her B.A. in English and Africana Studies from Brooklyn College and will receive her Ph.D. in English from Princeton University.  Her research focuses on articulations of the Middle Passage of the transatlantic slave trade in contemporary Black Atlantic poetry.
