Debra Carney is a Writing Counselor at the Jacobson Center for Writing, Teaching and Learning and a Lecturer in the English Department. She teaches both expository writing and public speaking courses. Debra also co-designed and teaches in the Writing Program of the Smith College School for Social Work. Additionally, she provides faculty development and training at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia. She received her BA in English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, as well as her MFA in fiction, where she was awarded a fellowship. Debra Carney has published both fiction and nonfiction.
