Stephen Amidon is the author of five novels, including The New City (2000) and Human Capital (2004). His works have been published in twelve countries, and he has just adapted Human Capital for the screen. He has also written numerous short stories, some of which were collected in Subdivison (1991). Born in Chicago, he spent twelve years in London, where he worked as literary editor of Esquire UK, a film critic for The Financial Times and the London Sunday Times, and a reader at Bloomsbury Publishing. His collected non-fiction prose will be published in 2007 and he is currently a regular contributor to various publications including Salon, The Washington Post and The New Statesman. He is at work on his sixth novel.
