
English 296 - Writing Short Stories

The aim of this course is a deep engagement with the short story form—how does it breathe? Students will focus on the development of their own short stories, with a particular emphasis on editing and revision. In addition to writing exercises and assignments, students will read and discuss a selection of classic and contemporary short stories, and participate in workshops of their own and fellow students' stories.
Enrollment is by instructor permission. Interested students should submit a writing sample for consideration.
