English 341: Advanced Poetry Writing This course is for students who have successfully completed ENG 295 a or b or have reached a comparable level of achievement in their own work, as measured by (a) an awareness of available poetic forms and (b) a familiarity with representative texts in contemporary English- language poetry. The course will extend the three-part process of reading, composition, and careful revision. Students will be asked to regularly memorize and recite poems. A final portfolio of original work will be required for completion of the course. Admission by permission of instructor: please submit a writing sample (3-5 pages of poetry) and a cover letter. |
