ENG 211 Beowulf

Beowulf is a narrative meditation in Old English alliterative poetry on the origins of violence in human affairs, one of the most potent expressions of the world of barbarian Europe in the centuries that followed the fall of Rome.  We will read aloud, translate and discuss the 3,182 verses of the poem.

Prerequisite: ENG 210 or the equivalent.
