Bernd F. Schliemann

Bernd F. Schliemann is a visiting lecturer from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he teaches a variety of civil, mechanical and industrial engineering undergraduate and business graduate courses. At Smith, Schliemann teaches EGR 100: Engineering for Everyone. His research interests include engineering education, economic development, ethics and leadership.

Schliemann received a bachelor of science from the United States Military Academy, a master of science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a masters in business administration and doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a retired United States Army Officer, having served over 20 years on active duty as an engineer officer.

Schliemann has taught engineering, leadership and business courses at the five colleges and earned his professional engineer license in 1996.
