Through grants from the LLL
Foundation and Hewlett-Packard,
we have developed a K–6 Engineering Laboratory at the
Campus School—Smith’s laboratory school for elementary
education.
The
purpose of this laboratory includes:
Field-testing
our elementary engineering curriculum in classes taught
by Campus School teachers and Smith pre-service teachers;
Helping Smith pre-service teachers learn about engineering
and its use in the classroom by leading hands-on engineering
activities; and
Serving as a demonstration and learning laboratory for in-service
teachers to learn about engineering and strategies for integrating
it into the classroom.
