In March, 2012, the college's senior administrators endorsed a set of principles to guide the allocation of campus space in the face of increasing demand from internal and external users. The principles were developed through a series of facilitated discussions with key campus stakeholders and event service providers. Click to view the specific details (PDF).
Smith College requires that all space requests be entered through 25Live. These online requests are reviewed by the Events Management Office (EMO) and forwarded to the appropriate space scheduler for processing.
Event capacity is limited to a maximum occupancy (including staff) based on the fire codes for the City of Northampton. If space is made smaller by any means, such as blocking off an adjoining room, the maximum occupancy is reduced.
Reservation of a space does not grant or imply the right to use other space in that facility, including adjoining or common spaces. Also, prior use of a particular space does not guarantee its future use. Changes to confirmed reservations are only made in extreme situations and in consultation with all parties involved.
