Smith College Campus School

The Smith College Campus School is the laboratory school for the Department of Education and Child Study at Smith College. The school serves children from kindergarten through sixth grade, with two classes at each grade level. The Campus School is located at Gill Hall on the Smith College campus.

The Campus School has a comprehensive program which includes a strong curriculum in all the major subject areas. The curriculum is enriched by the Campus School's connection to Smith College and access to the physical and human resources of the college. Campus School students utilize the science center, plant house, theater, chapel, student center, computer center, and other resources to enhance their work in the classroom. The Smith campus is an arboretum with many gardens, wooded areas, and a pond that are frequently the destination for walking field trips. The Smith College faculty is a resource for teachers as they develop curriculum and activities, Faculty members visit classrooms to share their expertise with children.

What is the Summer Adventures in Learning (SAIL) and who may attend?

The City of Northampton and Smith College will cooperate in conducting a five–week summer program, from June 30 through July 31. Students from public and independent schools in Northampton and other communities are invited to enroll in the program, one of the longest running and best summer educational experiences in the Pioneer Valley.
