FINAL PROJECT: THE TEACHING PRACTICUM

to combine all the facts of the
class: characteristics of children’s visual art work at particular age levels,
visual arts vocabulary, experiences with materials and lesson planning

to apply learning to your own
interests and to a live teaching situation, as well as to expose the 305 class
to a variety of other media and teaching situations

to encourage you to use and to
discover additional art education resources
-
to encourage you to find and to use
examples from the history of art
Assignment:
Develop a visual arts unit that
integrates with a classroom study. Teach
the unit. Display and present the
results to the class.
Your unit must consist of a least
two art lessons – about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the situation.
The second lesson should be a continuation of, or build upon the first
lesson. You could work with a whole
class or a small group of children.
