Resources for Economists on the Internet
This is the oldest, most well known, and probably most comprehensive site (even the Table of Contents is 26 pages long) for economics data and economics information in general. It is maintained and updated regularly by Bill Goffe, Mississippi, sponsored by the American Economic Association, and is easy to use.

WebEc: World Wide Web Resources in Economics
Originating in Finland, this site offers a comprehensive list of web resources for economists

Economicsearch
An internet site "designed specifically for the student of economics with an extensive collection of links to the useful and important economic data and analysis." The site also offers an on-line tutorial system keyed to major introductory economics texts, and a job center to facilitate the demand and supply sides of the Economics labor market.

VassarStats: Website for Statistical Computation
Here you can explore everything from the binomial distribution, through t-tests, to specialized statistical sampling.

Economic Data
The web's largest economic data library. Free, but you must register to use. Once you register you will gain access to 1.68 million data series, each of which you can easily export as an EXCEL file.

University of Michigan Data Sites
This site is maintained by the University of Michigan and lists an impressive array of statistical data sites.

 

LINKS TO U.S. DATA SOURCES
www.access.gpo.gov/eop
This site contains the most recent Economic Report of the President. The entire report can be browsed or parts of it can be downloaded. Make sure to check the table of contents for the statistical section, which is located about two-thirds of the way through the report.

www.fedstats.gov
This site includes data for over 100 federal agencies and can be searched by topic or by agency.

www.stat-usa.gov
Maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce this is another good starting point for locating U.S. government data.

The White House Briefing Room
This is one of the best sources for locating the most recent monthly and quarterly U.S. data.

www.census.gov.statab/www
This is the on-line edition of the latest Statistical Abstract of the United States, the traditional work-horse for many reference librarians.

The Federal Reserve Board of Governors
Contains extensive data and information on monetary issues.

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis
Another good source of monetary data, this site has a program that automatically calculates the growth rates for its data series.

 

LINKS TO INTERNATIONAL DATA SOURCES
The Statistical Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs
Contains a wealth of economic and socioeconomic data for hundreds of countries.

The International Monetary Fund
Another excellent source of international data and reports.

The CIA World Factbook
This site has useful information about many countries, although it isn’t as lurid as you might imagine.
