Mahnaz Mahdavi

 

Mahnaz Mahdavi is a Professor of Economics and the founding director of the Women and Financial Independence Program at Smith College (smith.edu/wfi).  Professor Mahdavi received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is an inaugural recipient of the Sherred Award for distinguished teaching in 2004. She has taught courses in corporate finance, international finance, international financial markets, and macroeconomics. Professor Mahdavi has been a participating faculty at the Smith Summer Executive Education, Management, and Alumnae Programs.  Her research has focused on the areas of international finance and finance.  Her current research projects include: 1) comparison of international interest rate process, and conditional correlation among international equity markets, and 2) college students and financial literacy: credit cards, student loan, and investing.  Professor Mahdavi was an Appointed Delegate of the state of Massachusetts to the National Retirement and Saving Summit organized by the Department of Labor in 2002.
