Jing Hu received her first master' degree in comparative linguistics from Peking University and her second master's degree in Chinese linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has also studied Thai, Lao, Tibetan linguistics and Chinese historical phonology.
Hu has many years of experience teaching languages both in China and the United States. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison she taught modern Chinese at the beginning and advanced levels as well as classical Chinese. She currently teaches all levels of modern Chinese languages. Her research interests are in the fields of classical and modern Chinese phonology and comparative linguistics of Sino-Tibetan languages.
