COURSE DESCRIPTIONS BY SEQUENCE

Courses in social work education are often divided into academic sequences which are roughly like departments in undergraduate programs.  Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Research, and Social Welfare Policy and Services are the four social work sequences.  Smith also has developed a set of cross-sequence courses which include content from more than one sequence and seek to integrate in a holistic manner.

Smith College SSW offers a very wide range of elective courses. There are several elective options open to each student. Course selection material is provided each spring by the School.
