The Minority Alumni Conference (a.k.a. the MAW - Minority Alumni Weekend) was held in July 1987. Recommendations from the minority alumni participants spurred on several events/programs:
(1988) Establishment of the Ethnic Minority Standing Committee (now called the Alumni of Color Standing Committee), whose goal it is to oversee the implementation and progress of the recommendations from the Minority Alumni Conference.
(1988-1992) Social Work Archives Committee sponsors Minority Alumni Special Project: an oral history on Dorothy Cunningham Bailey, M.S.S.'45, which is now in the Smith College Social Work Archives.
