The Sponsored Research Office
(SRO) is located within the Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty. The primary
goal of the SRO is to assist faculty members and staff in the process of applying
for outside funding and in the administration of grants and awards. We work closely
with other offices on campus to reach this goal, including the Office of Corporate
and Foundation Relations and the Finance Office. All grant proposals to external
funding sources must first be reviewed and approved by the Sponsored Research Office
prior to submission. We oversee the submission of online grant proposals when Smith
College is identified as the applicant.
Joseph O'Rourke, Associate Provost and Dean for
Academic Development, also serves as the Director of Sponsored Research. He may be
reached at 413-585-3000 in College Hall 206. Emily Robinson is the Sponsored Research
Office Administrator and the primary contact for the Office. She may be reached at
413-585-3010 in College Hall 303.
